Chardham Yatra Packages: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath

Our Chardham Yatra packages take you to the four holy shrines of the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna; Gangotri, the source of the Ganga; Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva; and Badrinath, the home of Lord Vishnu. Choose the full Char Dham Yatra by road or with a helicopter to Kedarnath, a Do Dham Yatra to two shrines, or an Ek Dham Yatra to Badrinath. Every yatra is private, with your own car and driver, starting from Delhi, Dehradun or Haridwar.

Shamrock Journeys is a trusted Uttarakhand tour operator. Since 2002 we have planned private pilgrimage tours for families, senior citizens and groups from India and around the world.

The Four Dhams of the Char Dham Yatra

The yatra goes from west to east, in this order.

Yamunotri

At about 3,290 metres, the temple of Goddess Yamuna stands near the source of the river. You reach it by a walk of about 6 km from Janki Chatti, or by pony or palki. Pilgrims cook rice in the hot spring of Surya Kund as an offering.

Gangotri

At about 3,100 metres, the white temple of Goddess Ganga stands by the Bhagirathi river, where the Ganga is said to have come down to earth. The road goes all the way to the temple.

Kedarnath

At about 3,583 metres, below the snow peaks, Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Walk about 16 km from Gaurikund, ride a pony or palki, or fly by helicopter from the helipads near Guptkashi and Phata.

Badrinath

At about 3,130 metres, on the Alaknanda river, the colourful temple of Lord Vishnu is reached by road. Bathe in the hot spring of Tapt Kund, then visit Mana, the last village before the border, with Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul.

Our Chardham Yatra Packages

All our Chardham Yatra packages can start from Delhi, Dehradun or Haridwar, and every one can be changed to suit your dates and pace.

Char Dham Yatra by Helicopter

For senior citizens or travellers short of time, a helicopter to Kedarnath saves the long walk. Our 11-day Chardham Yatra and 7-day Do Dham Yatra both include a helicopter flight from the Phata area. Seats are limited and flights stop in bad weather, so we plan a spare day.

Shamrock travel tip: book Kedarnath helicopter tickets only through the official government portal, never through unknown websites or phone numbers, as fake booking sites are common. For more advice, read our Shamrock India Travel Tips.

Best Time for Chardham Yatra Packages

  • Late April to June: the temples open, the weather is pleasant and the crowds are biggest. Book early.
  • July and August: monsoon rain and landslides. We suggest other months.
  • September to early November: clear skies, fewer crowds and our favourite time for the yatra.
  • November to April: the temples close for winter.

The opening dates are announced each year; Kedarnath and Badrinath open soon after Yamunotri and Gangotri.

Chardham Yatra Registration

Every pilgrim must register online with Uttarakhand Tourism before the yatra and carry the registration and a photo ID. We help you register when you book.
