7-Day Shimla Manali Tour Itinerary

This is the day-by-day plan of the 7-day Shimla Manali tour.

Day 1: Arrive in Chandigarh or Kullu, Drive to Manali

We meet you at Chandigarh airport or railway station, or at Kullu (Bhuntar) airport. From Chandigarh the drive to Manali is about 280 km and seven hours; from Bhuntar it is about 55 km and one and a half hours. Check in to your hotel and rest.

Overnight: Manali

Day 2: Manali Sightseeing

After breakfast, visit the Hadimba Temple in its cedar forest, the Manu Temple and the old village of Old Manali. See the hot springs at Vashisht and the Tibetan monastery. In the evening, walk along the Mall Road.

Day 3: Solang Valley and Rohtang Pass

Day three is the highlight of the 7-day Shimla Manali tour. Drive to Solang Valley, about 14 km away, for snow in winter, and paragliding, zorbing and the cable car in summer. When the road is open, continue to Rohtang Pass at about 3,978 m. When Rohtang is closed, we take you through the Atal Tunnel to Sissu for snow views instead.

Day 4: Manali to Shimla through the Kullu Valley

After breakfast, drive down the Kullu Valley along the Beas River. Stop to see Kullu shawls being woven, or try river rafting in season. Continue to Shimla, about 250 km and seven to eight hours in all, and check in to your hotel.

Day 5: Shimla Heritage Walk

After breakfast, take a heritage walk past the Viceregal Lodge, the Gaiety Theatre, Christ Church and the Ridge, and end on the Mall Road. In the afternoon, walk or ride the ropeway up to Jakhoo Temple for views over the town.

Day 6: Kufri, Chail and Naldehra

Drive to Kufri, about 16 km away, for pony rides, the Himalayan Nature Park and snow in winter. Continue to the green valley of Naldehra, with its old golf course, or to Chail, with its royal palace and one of the highest cricket grounds in the world. Return to Shimla for a free evening.

Day 7: Departure from Shimla

After breakfast, drive to Chandigarh, about 120 km and three hours, for your flight or train. If you fly from Delhi, we drive you there, about 350 km and seven to eight hours. Your 7-day Shimla Manali tour ends here.
